700r4 swap into an 84 SS

Post by Guy » Wed Nov 01, 2017 10:05 pm

I own an 84 SS with a turbo 350, I want to install a 700r4. Has anyone done this swap, if so, what problems did you have? I would appreciate any info on this swap.

I put a 4L60E into my 81 Monte. The difference between the 4L60E and the 700R4 is the electronics. I recall having a custom cross member made. We did this ourselves. Also, I had the driveshaft modified to fit.

I have since placed a 4L80E into the Monte with a manual valve body. This required a new driveshaft and a custom cross member as well.

Thanks for the info. The engine turns too many rpms at highway speeds with the turbo 350.
