Trying to swap a column shifter for a console shifter

Post by Rico Red » Wed Dec 06, 2017 10:50 am

Good morning to all, jam in the process of a swap and need some help.
I thank you in advance for all of your input!
I am ant to convert to a console shifter but the new column will cost about 700.00. Any money saving advice? Anyone out there knows shop that can rebuild a column.
Thanks and I will be asking more questions soon
Thanks again
Tony

What's wrong with the old column? If it's loose at the tilt joint, that's an easy fix. It bolts together there and the bolts coming loose is a common problem. If you just want to swap to a floor shift column, Mikes Montes may very well have a good used column.

I went from column shifter to floor shifter. Just undo the linkage and take the shifter off the column. No big deal. Cut a hole in the tranny tunnel for the cable to come up through the floor; assuming automatic shifter. If going manual than may need to do a few more mods to the floor to get shifter to work. No reason to remove the column and replace it.
