Just picked up a 97 LS from an older lady. I am very happy with condition, very clean! Bottom of car looks like it has never seen bad weather! Anyway, I have been a Nissan Titan enthousiast (site admin) since it came out, so I figured I would see what a Monte Carlo board is like. I really don't plan on modding this car, just enjoying it. Then again, you never know!!!!

Just signed up, place is looking great with lots of info floating around. I am a young guy and never really took interest in the Monte Carlo until recently after driving a friend's SS. Over the past couple of months I've read everything about this car and love it even more so the only thing left to do is buy one. Oh yeah, I'm Canadian and we love this car up here especially since so many were made in my neck of the woods. Good to be amongst enthusiasts and experts alike.

Thanks! Well right now I am looking at the 2000-2005 models but I don't mind the 06/07 babies either. I would probably enjoy the fuel economy of the V6 though and they are cheaper to buy, my price range is around 10 grand USD. Was initially looking for something real cheap to start off with but now I wouldn't mind payin extra for any of the special editions. This is my first car that Im buyin, have driven my share of vans and need muscle. Any suggestions? Oh yeah I'm sticking with SS.

If it is a 6th generation you are looking for and something with power I would look at a 2005 with a super charger or the 2006-2007 SS with the 5.3 V8. Mine is not that bad on fuel. I get 22mpg normal driving and when I made the trip to the nationals last year I got 29mpg. The 06 and 07 will be a bit more than 10k. If I were you I would dacide on the color combo that you like and go from there. It sounds like you are not in a rush so that is good. Take your time and keep looking until you find the right one. If you start second guessing yourself on one it's not the right one. Best of luck on your search

Is that your black 07 in the signature? Really nice. 29mpg is very impressive for long distance and the V8 no doubt feels proper. You advised 2005 SS which is a really nice year but it has been harder to locate for sale, over the past months I've seen mostly 2001-2004. As for colour combo at the very least I want an all black SS of any year, but ideally Intimidator or Tony Stewart edition is what I'm keeping my eyes peeled for. People are holding on to these and its rare to even see one on for sale online (plus the prices are insane here...for example 2002 Intimidator with about 10,000 miles going for 17k US). You're right if you second guess on a car it is not for you and even though I love all Monte's the condition/colour/year/price of the car is very important. Thanks for the great advice.
